Memphis, Tenn. (December 17, 2012) – Lily Kate Anthony, a senior at St. Agnes Academy, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Anthony is one of seven students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for English & Literature. C Spire Wireless will recognize
more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year.
Anthony and other weekly winners will be honored at an awards luncheon at the Hilton Memphis on Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Anthony is a disciplined student who balances a rigorous course load with a variety of extracurricular and community activities. She holds a 4.515 weighted
grade point average and scored a 31 on the ACT with a perfect 36 on the English portion of the test and also scored a 2050 on the SAT. Anthony earned “Best
Performance” in Honors English in 9th, 10th and 11th grades. During her junior year, Anthony received the Sewanee Book Award for outstanding work.
A quality that sets Anthony apart from her peers is perseverance. She has suffered from cystic fibrosis since she was a young child. However, she remains
optimistic about her future and refuses to abandon her goals. Anthony spearheads a team called “Laps for Lily Kate” that raises money for the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation. She also tutors her fellow students in French.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership
and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from
nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the
year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
